A Vision Express Members Workshop with Amanda Sage & Joe Bob Merritt

Invite the unseen. Explore the unknown. Construct and dissolve. Reveal hidden worlds within.
Enter a three-hour creative ceremony where painting becomes a mirror of awareness — and the act of seeing becomes the art itself. Guided by visionary artist Amanda Sage and architect-philosopher Joe Bob Merritt, participants will explore techniques of pareidolia and decalcomania — using spontaneity, reflection, and imagination to reveal images emerging from the subconscious.
Through guided exercises, live painting, and shared dialogue, we’ll practice the alchemy of construction and dissolution, illuminating the hidden worlds that dwell within us all.
SCHEDULE
12 - 1pm - Amanda presentation on the use of decalcomania and pareidolia in Visionary art.
1-2:30pm - Painting demonstration & spoken word with Joe Bob on Vision Train Psyght Seeing
2:30 - 3pm - Closing sharing circle
SUGGESTED MATERIALS
Black canvas or paper (11x14” or whatever you feel called too)
White chalk or charcoal pencil
Acrylic Paint: white, black + 3 colors (I will use Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna & Phthalo Blue).
You can use any colors though I advise a Yellow, Red & Blue - any shade.
Cup with water
Rag
Soft acrylic paint brushes
Various pieces of plastic destined for landfill (ideal is the cellophane packaging from the canvas)
Spray bottle with water
Palette: Plate or STAwet Palette

My first online workshop was for free on Easter in 2020 and I share a slide show of many of the Egg Paintings I have done over the years and then lead participants on a step by step journey in creating a painting in acrylic.
